  Well, good if you haven't seen glow worms
  Dec to Feb is the best time ..
  Pay attention to the parking, don't be a dick to the residents (or other vistitors)
  
  Its a little bit of a walk and can be muddy/slippery after rain so if you have small ones be ready to carry them.
  I found it best to get there before the sun set but then it takes around another 40 mintes for it to get dark enough to see the worms...
  
  But then it's worth it. But don't expect fireworks.
  
  There is a deck etc at the view area, and around 15 steps (2 landings) so if you are older be ready for walking up ( or down) the stair in the dark. after the walk through the bush
